B Lab、テクノロジーで人間の機能を拡張させ、誰もが超人になれるスポーツを開発して楽しむ「超人スポーツ」プロジェクトを発足！

B Lab（iU 情報経営イノベーション専門職大学イノベーション研究所、　所長 石戸奈々子。以下、B Lab）は、テクノロジーで人間の機能を拡張させ、誰もが超人になれるスポーツを開発して楽しむ「超人スポーツ」プロジェクトを新たに発足させます。
これまで超人スポーツの開発、普及、実践を行ってきた一般社団法人超人スポーツ協会の発展的解消に伴い、B Labは協会の理念や活動を継承すると共に新たに超人スポーツの定義、事業、そしてコミュニティを拡張させた「超人スポーツ」の活動を精力的に展開していきます。

◆超人スポーツの定義、事業、コミュニティの拡張
人間の身体能力を補綴・拡張する人間拡張工学に基づき、人の身体能力を超える力を身につけ「人を超える」、あるいは年齢や障碍などの身体差により生じる「人と人のバリアを超える」。このような超人 (Superhuman) 同士がテクノロジーを自在に乗りこなし、競い合う「人機一体」の新たなスポーツを「超人スポーツ（Superhuman Sports）」と呼びます。

B Labの「超人スポーツ」プロジェクトでは、超人スポーツの更なる発展を目指すために、超人スポーツの定義、事業、コミュニティの拡張を推進します。定義の拡張の一例として、esportsやフィジカルスポーツ分野にも活動分野を広げていきます。国内外を問わず、現在急速にその文化が形成されているeSportsは、これまで以上にプレイヤーの身体的な運動をゲームに反映させるようになりました。また、VRゲーム等と呼ばれる没入型コンテンツの多くはすでに部分的ではありながらも、フィジカルとデジタルの融合を果たしています。そして我々は、環境あるいは身体の拡張を鑑みるに、これらコンテンツの多くは超人スポーツとして捉えることが可能であると考えています。

超人スポーツの定義が拡張されることにより、その事業性の拡張も期待できます。B Labでのプロジェクト発足をきっかけに、内部参画者らとの共創により、より多くの事業を展開させていくことでしょう。イベント、常設施設をはじめ、“超人スポーツ“という概念のより積極的な拡散を推進していきます。　超人スポーツプロジェクトでは、上記活動を行うことで、超人スポーツのさらなるコミュニティの拡張を推進します。これまでテクノロジー x スポーツで年齢、性別、得意不得意など、人々がそれぞれに持つ壁を超え、ヒトという種の限界を拡張してきた超人スポーツが、今後更にその活動を拡張していくことに期待しております。

B Lab launches Superhuman Sports Project to develop enjoyable sports where anyone can become superhuman by augmenting human functions with technology!

B Lab (iU, Professional University of Information and Management for Innovation; President: Nanako Ishido; hereinafter, “B Lab”) is set to launch the Superhuman Sports Project to develop enjoyable sports where anyone can become superhuman by augmenting human functions with technology.

Following the dissolution of Superhuman Sports Society, a general incorporated association that had engaged in the development, popularization and implementation of Superhuman Sports, B Lab will preserve the Society’s principles and activities while also putting its energy into developing a newly expanded definition, project, and community for Superhuman Sports.

◆Expansion of the definition, project, and community of Superhuman Sports
Based on human augmentation engineering in which humans’ physical abilities are supplemented and augmented, the idea is to go beyond both human barriers by gaining strength beyond humans’ normal physical abilities and barriers between people that arise due to physical differences caused by age or disability, etc. “Superhuman Sports” describes new sports in which such “superhumans” make free use of technology to compete with each other with the aid of human-machine synergy.

B Lab’s Superhuman Sports Project promotes expansion of the definition, project, and community of Superhuman Sports with the aim of achieving further growth. As an example of expansion of the definition, B Lab will broaden the fields of activity into eSports and physical sports. eSports, a culture which has grown at a rapid pace both within Japan and overseas, is involving players’ physical movements into games more than ever before. Also, many immersive contents such as VR games are already starting to blend the physical and the digital to some extent. We believe that it is possible to treat many of these contents as Superhuman Sports, taking into account the potential for environmental or human augmentation.

It is anticipated that expanding the definition of Superhuman Sports will also lead to expansion of the scope of related projects. Taking B Lab’s project launch as a starting point, additional projects will inevitably be launched through joint development with internal planners. We will actively promote the spread of the Superhuman Sports concept by means of events, permanent facilities, and other activities. By carrying out these activities, the Superhuman Sports Project will promote further expansion of the Superhuman Sports community. We fully expect to see the further expansion of Superhuman Sports activities, which have expanded human limitations by combining technology and sports to move beyond individuals’ limits such as age, gender, and personal strengths and weaknesses.

B Lab, taking its initial from the terms Beyond, Borderless and Breakthrough, is a participation-based laboratory platform that brings together the skills and expertise of many people, connecting universities, research labs, communities and human resources worldwide to produce new technologies, services, contents, businesses and societies.
